“We have been living in the Rijndijkstraat with great pleasure since 2019. The Rijndijkstraat is, in our opinion, a unique street in Leiden. In the street you will find various residents, from young families to single elderly people. There are even families who have been growing up in this street for generations! Every summer a street party is organized with games for the children, a meatball competition, a talent show and a performance by the ‘Rijndijkstraat band’. Everyone brings snacks and drinks. Because there are also various expats living in the street, this is a culinary party. Around the holidays a New Year’s drink is organized with fire baskets, marshmallows, hot chocolate and mulled wine. The Rijndijkstraat feels to us like a small village in the middle of the city of Leiden. People in the street greet each other, but it is also okay if you do not feel like this.
